HND in Hospitality and Tourism

Our BTEC Higher National Diploma (HND) programme in Hospitality Management is a well- established UK national qualification from Edexcel Foundation that places academic theory within a practical context. The course is suitable for those who intend to pursue a career in the hospitality industry.

HNDprogramme in Hospitality Management equips learners with the knowledge, understanding, training, skills and personal qualities they will need to make a useful contribution as soon as they start work in the industry.

Hospitality Management: equips learners for employment
in the licensed trade, specialist culinary arts or the leisure and tourism sectors. They can focus on their individual interests such as hotels, restaurants and hospitality services.

Course Structures at both levels are modular, with opportunities for specialism.

On successful completion of the HND, students can progress onto the final year of the Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical/ Electronic) degree course at the University of Sunderland (UK) or Mechatronics Engineering degree course at the University of Wolverhampton (UK).

All 16 modules are assessed by projects and written assignments. There are no formal examinations but some modules contain in-class tests. Students are also taught employability and life skills to ease their transition from classroom to the workplace.

Course Duration

Two academic years of 4 semesters of classroom Laboratory and Workshop activities

Entry Requirements

Undergraduates in Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics and Engineering, OR
National Diploma or a City & Guilds Diploma in appropriate engineering discipline OR
Any other training and academic qualification which the College may consider acceptable.
